Israel February 2015: Toyota Corolla back to #1, Mitsu Attrage up to #2

New car sales in Israel are up 3% year-on-year in February to 21,850 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 55,480 units, up a very solid 14% on 2014. Down to a paltry 4th place in January, Toyota leads the brands ranking this month thanks to 2,807 sales for a 12.6% market share, above year-to-date market leader Hyundai at 2,636 and 12.1%. Kia is up 27% year-on-year to 11.2% share, Mazda is up 11% to 10.2% and Mitsubishi is up 57% to 7.7%. Further down, notice Seat up a gigantic 81% to #8, Subaru up 46% to #9, Volkswagen up 29% to #11, BMW up 67% to #19 and Dacia cracking the Israeli Top 20 for its 2nd full month in market at #20 with 211 sales and 1% share.

The Toyota Corolla reclaims the lead of the models ranking it held over the Full Year 2014 thanks to 1,370 sales and 6.3% share, also climbing back into the year-to-date top spot despite sales down 17% on 2014. The Mitsubishi Attrage manages to rank #2 overall for the 2nd time in the past 3 months with 1,126 units and 5.3%, it is now #4 year-to-date vs. #14 in 2014. Leader last month, the Kia Picanto is down to #3 but ranks #2 YTD with sales up 38%. The Hyundai i35 (aka Elantra) is the 4th and last model to clock over 1,000 sales this month in Israel at #4, up 8 spots on January.

Other great performers include the Kia Sportage up 9 spots on last month to #7, the Suzuki Alto up 9 to #11, the Subaru Impreza up 18 to #13, Skoda Rapid up 12 to #14 and the VW Jetta up 13 to #22. As described below, Renault’s low-cost brand Dacia just launched in Israel and is spreading its wings nicely: the Duster is up another 39 spots on January to brilliantly break into the monthly Top 50 at #41 with 126 sales, while the Sandero is up 8 ranks to #88, the Dokker up 27 to #125 and the Lodgy marks a pause at #148 (-16).
