New car sales in Ireland are on a roll: up another 24% year-on-year in February to 15,839 registrations which brings the year-to-date total to 45,727 units, up 28% on 2014. Bypassed by Toyota in January, Volkswagen reclaims the brands pole position both in February (up 46% to 15% share) and year-to-date (up 30% to 12.2%) while Toyota sinks to #5 this month. Nissan jumps 3 spots to 2nd place overall with a very strong 10.3% share, above Ford (9.3%) and Hyundai (8%). Notice also Citroen up 40%, Mitsubishi up 48%, Renault up 54%, Land Rover up 63%, Lexus up 76%, Mini up 109% and Dacia up 150%.

In the models ranking, the VW Golf remains the most popular with 5.2% share thanks to sales up 36% year-on-year, and Volkswagen achieves a 1-2 in the sales charts this month with the Passat lifted 86% by the new generation to 2nd place with 762 sales and 4.8%. The Nissan Qashqai is up 4 spots on January to #3, the Skoda Octavia up two to #4 and the Nissan Micra up a gargantuan 39 ranks to a shiny 6th place. Further down, the Renault Clio is up 107% on February 2014 to #10, the Ford Mondeo up 134% to #12 and the Nissan Pulsar gains a further 3 spots on January to reach #17 with 242 sales and 1.5% share.
