Algeria Full Year 2014: Dacia Logan stays #1 in market down 20%

It’s back to reality for new car sales in Algeria, down a harsh 20% in 2014 to 340,000 deliveries if we look at sales by the manufactures affiliated to the local dealership association (AC2A). Chinese manufacturers should lift that total to 390,000. Renault reclaims the brands leadership despite sales down an abysmal 30% year-on-year to 52,059, it’s nevertheless better than Peugeot’s 44% drop to just 41,802 units. Dacia rounds up the podium like in 2013 with sals up 7% to 39,741, holding off Hyundai up 19% to 39,333. Volkswagen and Kia gain ground in the ranking while Toyota and Seat slide down. Nissan (+12%) cracks the Top 10, Skoda is up 21% to #11 and Chinese carmaker Great Wall is inside the Top 15.

The Dacia Logan is the most popular nameplate in Algeria for the second year running, improving its market share with sales down ‘just’ 8% to 24,469 and edging out the Hyundai Accent up 80% and 7 spots to #2. The Kia Picanto also shines at +12% to #3 while the Renault Symbol, now assembled locally, is up one rank to #4 despite a harsh 33% drop. The Renault Kangoo gains 15% to #9, the Hyundai i10 is up 118% to #11 thanks to the new model, the Peugeot 301 crashes down 61% and 10 spots to #12 and the Dacia Duster breaks into the Top 15 at +12%.
