Latvia August 2014: VW Caddy and Ford Focus in the lead

The Latvian new car market goes from strength to strength this year: up another very impressive 31% year-on-year in August to 1,191 registrations, the highest year-on-year gain so far in 2014. The year-to-date total now stands at 9,917 units, up 22% or 1,800 sales on the same period in 2013. Brand-wise, Volkswagen lodges a particularly strong month at 22.2% market share thanks to 264 sales, followed by Ford at the exceptional level of 7.6% vs. 2.8% year-to-date while Skoda and Peugeot rank #3 and #4 respectively like in the year-to-date ranking, kicking Toyota down to #5. The VW Caddy is the most popular vehicle in the country this month with 4.6% share (it ranks #8 so far in 2014) ahead of the Ford Focus at 4.4% (vs. #28 year-to-date), the Dacia Duster at 4.2% and the VW Jetta at 3.9%. The Skoda Yeti is down to #6 but remains in pole position year-to-date, the VW Up is up 63 ranks on July to #7, the Peugeot 5008 also up 63 to #10 and the Skoda Rapid up 37 to #13.
