New car sales in the Czech Republic are up a great 20% year-on-year in August to 13,937 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 125,695 units, up an equally satisfying 18% on 2013. The Top 4 best-selling models are identical to the year-to-date ranking, however all Skodas lodge market shares below their 2014 average (the Octavia is at 7.7%, the Rapid at 5.9% and the Fabia at 4.7%) while the VW Golf is slightly above at 3.8% in 4th position. Without a doubt helped by run-out prices on the outgoing 1st generation added to the first deliveries of the 2nd gen to dealerships, the Hyundai i20 shoots up 9 spots on July to a beautiful 5th place and 2nd foreigner thanks to 490 sales and 3.5% share, just above its big sister the i30 at 3.3%.
