Hungary July 2014: Opel Astra confirms pole position

The Opel Astra is the most popular model in Hungary for the 2nd month running.

The Hungarian new car market continues its recovery: up 22% year-on-year in July to 6,125 registrations which brings the year-to-date total to 39,129 units, up 21% on 2013. The Opel Astra manages to keep the year-to-date leader the Skoda Octavia at bay for the 2nd month in a row, however its advantage this month is only two units at 287 vs. 285, both models holding a 4.7% market share. The Octavia’s year-to-date crown is safe at 2,429 sales and 6.2% vs. 1,583 and 4% for the Astra, overtaking the Ford Focus for 2nd place in 2014. The Dacia Duster is once again extremely solid and rounds up the podium at 215 sales and 3.5%, among its best ranking in the world along with Romania, Morocco and Russia. The Suzuki SX4 S-Cross shines and breaks into the Top 5 on its own, with the VW Polo and Transporter making a rare appearance inside the Top 10.
