Malaysia May 2014: Honda and Mazda strong

New car sales in Malaysia are up 13% year-on-year in May to 55,939 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 274,581 units, up 6% on 2013. Perodua leads the brands charts once again thanks to 16,104 sales and 28.8% share vs. 28.3% year-to-date, ahead of Proton at 18.2% vs. 19.3% and Toyota at 14.5% vs. 15.1%. Honda has a particularly good month, potentially thanks to the launch of the new gen City, traditionally a strong seller here: 7,365 sales and 13.2% in May vs. 10.9% year-to-date. Notice also Mazda at #6 and 2.3% vs. 1.7%.
