Hong Kong (China) May 2014: Mercedes S Class outstanding
The Mercedes S-Class continues to sell like hot cakes in Hong Kong.

New vehicle sales in Hong Kong are up a very healthy 15% year-on-year in May to 4,150 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 20,850 units, up 9% on 2013. While the Toyota Hiace continues to dominate the models sales charts with 210 sales and 5.1% share, two large German premium models deliver outstanding results this month. The BMW 5 Series is up one further spot on April to land in 2nd place at 152 units and 3.7%, returning to the ranking it held over the Full Year 2013. The Mercedes S-Class for its part manages to maintain itself inside the Hong Kong Top 5 for the third month this year at #4 with 130 sales and 3.1% share, remaining #3 year-to-date! These results are properly astounding given the price point these models command.
The BMW 4 Series reaches a world-best #13 spot in Hong Kong this month.
Further down , notice also the Mercedes C-Class up 9 ranks on April to #9, the Mercedes CLA up 10 to a world-record #11, the BMW 4 Series up 7 to another world-record #13, the BMW 2 Series up 21 to a third world-record #15 for its 2nd month in market, the BMW 1 Series up 15 to #17 and Mercedes ML-Class up 79 to #24, making it 5 BMWs inside the Top 17 vs. 7 Mercedes in the Top 24. As a result, this month Mercedes is only about 100 units below market leader Toyota at 15% share vs. 17.7% with BMW at #3 with 11.6% of the Hong Kong market vs. 8.6% year-to-date.
