USA April 2014: Jeep up 52% to break record thanks to Cherokee

Jeep is up 52% year-on-year in April.

New light vehicle sales in the USA are up a beautiful 8% year-on-year in April to 1,390,513 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 5,134,255 units, up 3% on 2013. Below Ford (stable) and Chevrolet (+5%), Toyota sales are up 12%, Nissan is  up 18%, Subaru and Ram up 22%, Lexus up 28% and Audi up 19%. The Fiat Chrysler Group extends to 49 consecutive months of year-on-year gain at +14% thanks to another massive 52% jump at Jeep, breaking the brand’s all time monthly volume record at 59,754 sales and delivering a 6th month in a row above 30% year-on-year gain.

In the models ranking, the Ford F-Series keeps the lead by far thanks to 63,387 sales (+7%) ahead of the Chevrolet Silverado at 42,755 (+9%) while the Toyota Camry climbs back onto the podium with 38,009 sales (+20%). Other great year-on-year gainers this month include the RAM Pick-up at #4 (+17%), Toyota Corolla at #6 (+20%), Hyundai Sonata at #13 (+27%, without a doubt due to running out the current model), Ford Explorer at #19 (+30%), GMC Sierra at #20 (+21%), Nissan Rogue at #23 (+27%) and Dodge Grand Caravan at #30 (+36%).

Further down, notice the Chevrolet Tahoe up 21 spots on March to #43, the Chevrolet Suburban up 40 to #82, GMC Yukon up 137% year-on-year to #100, Chevrolet Corvette up 261% to #106 and the Audi A3 now boosted by the arrival of the sedan, up 97 ranks on March and 3825% year-on-year (!) to #131 with 2,159 sales.
