New car sales in Indonesia are up 5% year-on-year in December to 94,069 registrations, the first time since last August that the market dips below 100,000 monthly units. This brings the overall Full Year 2013 market to a new all-time record at 1,226,199 sales. No surprises in pole position: the Toyota Avanza still reigns supreme with 11,708 sales however its market share is down to 12.4% this month vs. 17.4% over the full year. The event of the month is the Toyota Agya confirming the 2nd spot it brilliantly held for the first time in November, thanks to 6,319 units and 6.7%, a new market share record for the model.
The Suzuki Ertiga is back up 6 spots on last month to #3 with 5,016 sales and 5.3% share, very close to its full year levels, while the Daihatsu Ayla also confirms the record 4th place it hit in November at 4,740 units and 5%, here too a new market share record for the nameplate. This means the Agya/Ayla combo now commends 11.8% of the Indonesian car market vs. 12.4% for the Avanza! Notice also the Toyota Kijang Innova down 4 spots to #7, the Daihatsu Xenia stuck at a horrid 8th place vs. #2 over the full year, the Nissan Grand Livina back up 4 ranks to #9 and the Daihatsu Terios up 5 to #10.
