Hong Kong (China) Full Year 2013: Toyota Hiace most popular

New car sales in Hong Kong are up a solid 11% year-on-year in 2013 to 48,276 registrations. Toyota remains the #1 brand on the territory by far, up 12% on 2012 to 9,776 sales and 20.3% share, ahead of Mercedes also up 12% to 6,103 units and 12.6% and BMW kicked down to third position, up 6% to 5,884 sales and 12.3%. The next four positions are unchanged vs. 2012: Volkswagen ranks 4th with 8.3% share, followed by Audi (+14%), Honda (+24%) and Nissan (+19%). Notice also Ford up 257% to #16, Volvo up 75% to #17, Suzuki up 151% to #20 and Mitsubishi up 147% to #22.
The Mercedes A-Class is up 5180% in Hong Kong in 2013…
This year the most popular vehicle in the territory is the Toyota Hiace, up 19% on 2012 to 2,3278 sales and 4.8% share, ahead two German premium models: the BMW 5 Series is up one spot and 1% to 1,913 units and 4% in second place, and the Mercedes E-Class, leader in 2012, is down 25% to #3 with 1,738 sales and 3.6%. The VW Golf is up a robust 23% and one spot year-on-year to #4 at 1,638 units and 3.4%, followed by the BMW 3 Series up a whopping 58% to #5 and the Toyota Noah up 29% to #6.
The BMW X5 ranked third in December with 3.8% share.
Further down, notice the Mercedes C-Class up 25% to #8, Honda Stepwagon up 37% to #9, Honda Jazz up 115% to #14, the Mercedes A-Class up from #164 in 2012 to #16 this year with 792 sales and 1.6%, Mercedes ML-Class up 104% to #21, Nissan Elgrand up 141% to #29 and Audi Q3 up 108% to #31. Finally the BMW X5 is up 8% to #34 but peaked at a fantastic third position in December with 171 sales and 3.8% share.
