First December data is starting to trickle through: in France over the first 6 opening days of the month the market is down 3% year-on-year to almost 37,000 units. Intermediary figures are always to be taken with a pinch of salt as they are heavily influenced by promotions and manufacturers’s tendencies to skew their sales towards the start (Volkswagen) or the end (Renault) of the month. In spite of this and for the first time so far in the year the model has been on sale in the country, the Renault Clio IV already tops the models sales charts as soon as the first week thanks to 1,600 units sold for a 4.3% market share, up 77% year-on-year. Reversely, the Peugeot 208 is down a dismal 58% to #3 and 1,390 sales. The Citroen C3 is sandwiched in-between at #2 and 1,561 units.
The VW Polo ranks 4th for now.
As usual the two best-selling Volkswagens start off extremely well: the Polo ranks 4th with 1,381 sales and 3.7% and the Golf VII follows at #5 with 1,341 units and 3.6%. The Citroen C4 Picasso II confirms its success at #6 and 3.2% share while the Peugeot 2008 is already inside the Top 10 at #7 and 2.8% whereas the Renault Captur is nowhere to be seen for now. Strong starts also for the Dacia Sandero at #8 and 2.4% and the Toyota Yaris at #9 and 2.3%, up 78% year-on-year.
