For the first time in the history of BSCB I can share with you today a Top 130 for Private Sales in Germany! Much better than the Top 30 we are used to… Now these rankings are always a little controversial because of the definition of ‘private’. Are counted as Private Sales the cars sold to private buyers. This explains the fact that as cars become more expensive, their Private Sales ratio tends to drop: a lot of them are actually on a long-term lease. The overall Private Sales ratio for the German new car market in October is 38% which is extremely low compared to France for example, currently flirting with 50%, an all-time low for that market…
The Peugeot 2008 already ranks above the 208 with German private buyers!
7 of the Top 10 most popular cars with German private buyers this month are above the national average, with the Skoda Fabia at #8 and 65.8% Private ratio and the VW Polo at #2 and 62.8% the best performers. The Mercedes A-Class is up from #10 overall to #3 with private buyers thanks to 2,613 sales and 57.3% ratio. The Skoda Octavia improves on an already very impressive overall ranking to #4 with a slightly shyer 43.3% ratio. There are no less than 3 Mercedes inside the Top 7 (as many as Volkswagens!), whereas only one Audi steps inside the Top 10 this month (the A3) and no BMW manages to rank among the 10 most popular privately purchased cars…
