Switzerland June 2013: BMW 3 Series now #3 year-to-date

The BMW 3 Series is now the third best-selling model in Switzerland so far in 2013.

It’s a very painful month for new car sales in Switzerland: June is down a harsh 28% year-on-year to 29,805 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 156,305 units, down 12% on 2012. The VW Golf comes back to earth at 1,066 sales 3.7% share vs. 4.5% last month while the Skoda Octavia is back up to its traditional 2nd place at 800 units and 2.8%, its best market share in the country since last February. The BMW 3 Series has been stuck at an outstanding third position for the last 3 months, which has now earned it a logical #3 spot year-to-date, passing the VW Polo and to be compared to #18 in 2012! If it manages to hold this third spot until the end of the year, it will be the first time since 2008 that the 3 Series ranks on the Swiss annual podium.

Other great performers this month in Switzerland include the Ford Fiesta up 10 spots on May to #6, the VW Touran up 14 to #8 (making it 5 Volkswagens in the Top 9), Skoda Fabia up 13 to #13, Opel Astra back up 20 to #14, Ford Kuga up 21 to #18, Renault Megane up 23 to #21, Seat Ibiza up 13 to #22, Seat Alhambra up 17 to #25 and the Renault Scenic up a huge 55 ranks to #26. Further down, we welcome 2 newcomers in the Swiss monthly Top 100: the Chevrolet Trax at #67 with 158 sales and the Peugeot 2008 at #68 and 156 units while the Renault Captur is up 16 spots to #77.
