May 2013 roughly corresponds to Ordibehesht, the second month of the year 1392 in the Persian calendar, and over the period, the Iranian car production is stuck in hell, down another 57% year-on-year to just 38,537 units compared to 88,939 one year ago… Year-to-date after two months in 1392, production is down 59% on 1391 to 58,635 units. The Saipa Pride is back up to 17,683 units but is down 52% year-on-year. With a market relatively bigger than last month, the models production charts returns to some kind of normality…

Peugeot places 3 models in the Top 4 for the first time since the French company had to limit parts imports from France in order to comply with the US embargo on Iran: the 405 is up one spot on April to #2, the Pars is up 2 to #3 and the 206 up 5 to #4. All these models however see their production drop sharply compared to May 2012. For only the second time ever after last September, the Saipa Tiba breaks into the Iranian Top 5, up 2 spots on April and 48% on May 2012 to #5 with 2,525 units produced. Notice also the Chery MVM315 (aka Fulwin 2) up 1120% to #7, the Iran Khodro Runna up 3775% to #9 and the Chery MVM110 (aka QQ) up 547% to #10…
