Whereas other regions of the UK were in clear positive territory, new car sales in Northern Ireland are up only 0.6% in 2012 to 47,519 registrations, however the first increase in 5 years. This is one third down from the high of 69,000 in 2007. The only models information for the Full Year 2012 in Northern Ireland is the pole position of the Ford Fiesta with 2,260 sales and 4.8% share.

The 4th generation Renault Clio should help the nameplate stay in the NI Top 10 in 2013.

To get more detail on the best-selling models in Northern Ireland, we have to go back to September 2012 when a Top 10 models was available. It shows the Ford Fiesta and Focus at #1 and #2 followed by the Vauxhall Corsa. So a podium very similar to the UK overall, but it’s below that things take a different turn: the Seat Ibiza ranks at an amazing 4th place vs. #24 in the UK that month, the BMW 3 Series is #5 vs. #7 and the Renault Clio at #8 vs. #30. Brand-wise, like in the UK overall Ford dominates followed by Vauxhall and Volkswagen, notice Nissan at #4 (vs. #6) and Hyundai at #6 (vs. #11).
