December is the harshest time of the year in Iceland, with the sun only making guest appearances every day. Even then, 263 new vehicles found a buyer in the country over the first half of the month, bringing the year-to-date total to 8,189 registrations. Big reshuffle atop the models ranking: the VW Passat brilliantly takes the lead with 38 sales and a huge 14.4% market share vs. #8 and 2.4% year-to-date and is followed by the VW Tiguan at 26 units and 9.9% vs. #16 and 1.6% year-to-date. The Honda CR-V also shines in third position with 21 sales and 8%.

Solid month for the Toyota Land Cruiser 150 at #4 and 4.6%, ahead of the Ford Kuga also at 4.6%, but for the Ford it is an exceptional score compared to it 1.5% average so far in 2012. Notice also the Kia Sorento up to #8 vs. #23 YTD, the VW Caddy at #10 vs. #24, the Volvo XC60 at #12 vs. #50, the Ford Explorer at #13 vs. #66 and the Dacia Duster at #14. The Toyota Yaris, leader last month and year-to-date, is down to #7 over the period.
