Paraguay 9 months 2012: Toyota Hilux & Nissan Frontier on top

Thanks to NismoBoy I can now share with you detailed sales data about Paraguay for the first 9 months of 2012. Overall the Paraguayan new car market is up a healthy 6% year-on-year to 22,401 registrations. Like in 2011, the best-selling model in the country is the Toyota Hilux, improving its market share from 6.5% last year to an outstanding 9.7% in 2012 thanks to 2,173 units sold. In fact, this year the Paraguayan podium is 100% pick-up with the Nissan Frontier taking the 2nd spot with 1,308 sales and 5.8% and the Isuzu Pick-up #3 at 1,035 units and 4.6%.
The most popular passenger car is still the Kia Rio but it is down 2 spots vs. 2011 to #4 with 990 sales and 4.4%. It is followed by the Hyundai Tucson, Kia Picanto, Hyundai Accent, Hyundai i10 and Kia Sportage, and with the Hyundai Santa Fe at #11 there are 7 Korean models in the Top 11! Brand-wise, Kia confirms its status of favourite carmaker in Paraguay with an excellent 3,512 sales and 15.7% and Hyundai is now #2 at 3,203 units and 14.3%, meaning both brands add up to a fantastic 30% of the market. Notice Toyota up to #3 at 12.9%, Nissan up to #4 and Chevrolet down to #5.
There are now 10 Chinese brands in the Paraguayan Top 30: DongFeng is now in the lead at #11 with 376 sales and 1.7%, followed by ChangAn at #18 and 1% and Great Wall at #20 and 0.8%. Below, you will find Foton at #22, Haima at #23, Zhengzhou at #24, JMC at #25, BYD at #26, Geely at #28 and Higer at #29.
