Iceland mid-October 2012: Skoda Octavia up to 17% share

As the Icelandic population is slowly but surely getting into hibernation mode for the harsh polar winter, they oddly continue to purchase new cars at quite a ugh rate. 251 new vehicles found a buyer in the country over the first half of October, compared to 254 a month ago. Exceptional performance of the Skoda Octavia keeping the lead of the models ranking with no less than 43 sales over the period for an astounding 17.1% market share! The Octavia is catching up on the Toyota Yaris for the race to the title of 2012 Icelandic best-selling model, now at 418 units and 5.9% year-to-date vs. 437 and 6.2% for the Yaris, down to #3 at mid-October with 11 sales and 4.4% (73% of which are hybrid).

Other great performers include the VW Caddy up to #2 with 17 units and 6.8%, the Peugeot 208 up to #4 at 9 units and 3.6%, Toyota Hilux up to #5, Honda CR-V at #7, Chevrolet Captiva up to #8, Renault Trafic up to #9, Skoda Fabia up to #13 and Skoda Yeti up to #14.
