Mexico August 2012: Chevrolet Aveo hits highest ever share

The new car market in Mexico is up 10% year-on-year in August to 83,326 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 621,941 units, up a very solid 12% on 2011. Celebrating its 9th consecutive month atop the Mexican models ranking, the Chevrolet Aveo also hits its highest market share yet in the country at 7.3% thanks to 6,116 sales. It therefore reinforces its year-to-date domination to 37,596 units and 6%, up 69% on 2011. Up one spot on July to 2nd place with 4,136 sales and 5%, the VW Clasico hits its highest ranking since last November and its highest share since last October. It is now #3 year-to-date, passing the Nissan Tsuru.
The Nissan Versa is down one rank to #3 and 4.3% but stays #2 year-to-date at 28,640 units and 4.6%, up 359% on 2011. Below the Nissan Tsuru, the VW New Jetta is up one spot to #5, the Nissan Chasis Largo is up 2 to #6, the Nissan Tiida Sedan down 3 to #7 and the Honda CR-V up 3 to #8. Notice also the Nissan Sentra 2.0 up to #9 and the Chevrolet Sonic down 3 ranks to #12.
