Emirati consumers are definitely in the mood for buying new cars in 2012: the market is up a huge 54% year-on-year in June at 25,255 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 148,841 units, up 26% on 2011. This month the Toyota Hilux takes a clear advantage in the models ranking, selling 2,025 units for an 8% market share and reinforcing its lead in the 2012 year-to-date ranking at 9,104 sales and 6.1%. Leader last month, the Toyota Land Cruiser is down to #2 at 1,318 units and 5.2%, followed by the Toyota Prado up one spot to #3 and 1,084 sales.

BMW 7 Series

Helped by the new model, the Toyota Camry is up to #4 with 921 units and 3.6% vs. 3.1% year-to-date and passes the Toyota Corolla, down 3 spots to #5. Like last month, the Fuso Canter is the best-selling non-Toyota at #6, ahead of the Nissan Altima at #8 (+6), the Mitsubishi L200 at #9 (+2) and the Nissan D22 at #10 (-2). The Toyota Land Cruiser Pick-up is strong again at #7 vs. #11 in 2012.

Chevrolet Malibu

Other great performers in the UAE in June include the Hyundai Sonata up 10 ranks on June to #17, the BMW 5 Series up 16 to #25, the Jeep Grand Cherokee up 11 to #38, the BMW 7 Series up a massive 83 spots to #45, the Ford Figo up 67 to #49, the Lexus GS up 26 to #60 and the Chevrolet Malibu up 25 to #64.
