Saudi Arabia June 2012: Ford Expedition & GMC Yukon superstars

The Saudi new car market is up a very healthy 19% year-on-year in July to 62,906 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 347,155 units, up 15% on 2011. Head and bonnet above the rest of the pack, the Toyota Hilux grabs a very round 10% market share thanks to 6,275 sales, adding up to 33,067 and 9.5% year-to-date. It is followed on the podium by the Toyota Corolla at 4,427 units and a strong 7% share and the Hyundai Accent with 3,202 sales and 5.1%.
In fact the Top 6 best-sellers are unchanged vs. June and the 2012 year-to-date ranking: the Toyota Camry ranks 4th at 4.7%, ahead of the Hyundai Elantra and Toyota Yaris both at 4.2% while the Toyota Land Cruiser is up 2 spots to #7. Another amazing month for the Ford Expedition, improving further to 2,063 sales and 3.3% share, or triple its June 2011 score! The Chevrolet Tahoe is up one rank to #9 .
Another American SUV gets noticed in Saudi Arabia this month: the GMC Yukon is stable at a very respectable 11th place with 1,735 units and 2.8% vs. 2.1% year-to-date. If we add the score of the Yukon XL at #17 with 989 units, total Yukon sales stand at 2,724 and 4.4% share, equivalent to an outstanding 5th place overall…
In a very stable ranking we can still notice a few other great performers this month: the Hyundai Azera up 5 spots to #24, the Chevrolet Malibu up 3 to #30, the Chevrolet Caprice up 13 to #40, the GMC Acadia up 28 to #48, the Suzuki APV up 19 to #53, the Hyundai Atos up 40 to #55, the GMC Savana up a massive 83 ranks to #57, the GMC Terrain at #75 vs. #89 ytd and the Chevrolet Camaro up 20 to #92.
