We welcome a new territory on Best Selling Cars Blog today: Scotland! The Scottish new car market is down 5% year-on-year in 2011 to 166,877 registrations and unlike in the UK where the Ford Fiesta reigns, in Scotland the Vauxhall Corsa is the most popular model by far with 10,829 sales and 6.5% share. It is followed on the podium by the Ford Fiesta at 4.5% and the Ford Focus at 4%.

Just below the Focus, the Vauxhall Astra ranks 4th with 6,489 units and 3.9%, also doing better than in the UK where it is #5. Excellent performance of the Nissan Qashqai at #5 and 2.6%, ahead of the Vauxhall Insignia, VW Polo and Renault Clio at #8 compared to #17 in the UK.

Thanks Matt, it is interesting to see regional differences within the UK, the BMW 3 series is very common in England but not so much in Scotland, Vauxhall (Opel) are more popular as is the Qashqai, Renault have had falling sales in the UK in the last few years, but the Clio is doing very well in Scotland, the Golf is less popular.

    Hi Matt,

You speak of a new territory, but please note that Scotland is part of the United Kingdom and therefore the sales you state are part of the UK sales, not additional. You could be differing between Wales, Scotland and England instead though.
