Nepal 2012: Hyundai i10 should lead the way, Eon arrives

Street scene in Kathmandu, Nepal

The next country under the spotlight this week is Nepal, where Hyundai has managed to establish itself solidly along with neighbours Maruti and Tata.

Hyundai i10

The last Nepalese official car sales figures date back to 2002 when the Hyundai Santro overtook the Maruti Alto to become the best-selling car in the country. If the Nepalese market has continued in the same vein during the last years, the Hyundai i10 could be leading the models ranking in 2011.

Hyundai Eon

Hyundai Santro, Eon and i10: the trio that should dominate Nepalese car sales

The Maruti 800, Swift, Wagon R, Tata Indica, Kia Rio and Hyundai Verna are also very well represented in the streets of Kathmandu (based on the observation of YouTube videos). Building on the success of the Santro and i10, it is reasonable to assume that the all-new Hyundai Eon should be starting with a bang right now. Nepal was also one of the first countries with Bhutan to import the Tata Nano a few months after it launched in India.
