Thanks to our secret French admirer I can share with you for the first time on Best Selling Cars Blog the best-selling Light Commercial Vehicles in the UK! Going against the general car sales trend, the British LCV market is up 18% in 2011 to 303,097 registrations. As it has been the case since its launch in 1965, the Ford Transit is in pole position over the Full Year 2011 with 56,667 sales and a mammoth 18.7% share, albeit down 9% on 2010.
Far below in 2nd place we find the VW Caddy at 15,537 units and 5.1% of the market, followed by the Mercedes Sprinter with 15,169 sales and the VW Transporter at 15,114 units, both at 5%. The Vauxhall Vivaro rounds up the Top 5 with 14,962 sales and 4.9%. Also successful are the Citroen Berlingo, Peugeot Partner (both at 4%) and Vauxhall Combo (3.6%) with the Renault Trafic (3.1%) and Ford Transit Connect (2.7%) closing the Top 10.
Further down the ranking, the Toyota Hilux is the best-selling pick-up at #12 and 7,439 units followed by the Mitsubishi L200 and Nissan Navara, while the VW Amarok is rather disappointing at #44 and 707 sales. Notice the Great Wall Steed, only Chinese model sold in the UK, in last position (#55) with just 7 units sold this year…
