France 10-16 January 2012: Peugeot 207 back #1, VW Polo still #3

Car sales are down 23% year-on-year over the 2nd week of 2012 in France at 25,800 units. After a crazy first week that saw Volkswagen lead the brands ranking and the VW Polo lead the models ranking, the French market is slowly getting back to normal, with Peugeot now leading the manufacturers ranking at 4,422 sales (-33%) ahead of Citroen at 3,713 (-34%) but Renault still struggles at 2,992 units (-28%), only 2 sales above Volkswagen at 2,990! (+45%)
In the models ranking, the Peugeot 207 reclaims the pole position this week with 1,424 sales and 5.5% share, followed by the Renault Clio at 1,050 units and 4.1% while the VW Polo manages to stay on the podium with 977 sales and 3.8%, another outstanding week for the German model. The Citroen C3, Peugeot 308 and VW Golf follow and Dacia places two models in the Top 10 this week: the Sandero at #7 and the Duster at #9.
If we add up sales of the first two weeks of January, the Peugeot 207 comes up #1 with 3,245 sales and 5.3%, ahead of the VW Polo at 3,033 units and 4.9% and the VW Golf at 2,459 sales and 4%. The Renault Clio is still only #4 and the Citroen C3 #5…
