Algeria Full Year 2011: Renault Symbol #1 again, Hyundai up 53%

Car sales are up a massive 35% in Algeria in December at 18,934 units, bringing the final 2011 total to 289,385 registrations, up an excellent 32% on 2010. In December, Hyundai leads the market for the third consecutive month with 5,376 sales and 28.4% market share while Renault is down to #4 with just 8.3%… Over the full year though Renault keeps the lead at 55,800 units and 19.3% share vs. 48,620 and 16.8% for Hyundai.
A Hyundai leads the models ranking for the third month in a row as well in December with the Hyundai Accent from two generations ago (!) reaching a best-ever 15.7% share thanks to 2,971 sales. The Renault Symbol is down to #7 at 3.2%, and hasn’t held the pole position since September (but it held it every month up to then). The Symbol manages to stay the best-selling car in Algeria over the full year with 28,171 sales and 9.7% share, up 32% on 2010.
The Hyundai Atos, #1 in October and November, finishes the year at #2 with 19,531 units and 6.7%, up an imposing 63% on 2010. The Hyundai Accent does even better: +82% to 18,596 sales and 6.4%, and is followed by the Peugeot 207, very healthy at +51% and 15,445 units. The only model to lose ground on 2010 in the Top 10 is the Dacia Logan at -3% and going from #2 to #5 with 13,567 sales.
The Kia Picanto is up 3 spots and 43% to #6 at 9,212 units and we welcome the arrival of the all-new China-imported Chevrolet Sail in the Top 10 at #8 with 8,027 sales. It ranked 3rd in December and peaked at #2 and 7.7% share in October.
