Italy Station Wagons August 2011: Audi A4 up to 2nd place

We continue to pay particular attention to the Italian Station Wagon (SW) market, up a whopping 35% year-on-year this month at 6,676 sales in an overall market up just 1%… The Opel Astra keeps the lead and sees its SW ratio go up to 74% at 970 units, compared to 61% year-to-date.

The Audi A4 delivers the performance of the month: in 2nd place with 799 sales it hits a very impressive 88% SW ratio: nine A4 out of ten sold in Italy this month were Station Wagons! The Ford Focus keeps its steady increase with the arrival of the new generation in store, up to 54% SW ratio this month vs. 49% year-to-date.

The VW Passat (89%!) and Opel Insignia (88%) follow, suffice to say these two models would not exist in Italy were it not for their Station Wagon versions. The BMW 5 Series is up to a brilliant 6th place (66%) and the Peugeot 508 is back in the Top 10.
