Brazil August 2011: VW Voyage at highest in 20 years

Brazilian new car sales are up 4% in August at 307,824 registrations and 8% year-to-date at 2,233,757 units. The VW Gol keeps the lead for the 6th month in a row with 27,203 sales and 8.8% with the Fiat Uno 2nd at 24,947 units and 8.1%. The two models were neck-to-neck over the 2nd half of August though at 13,694 and 13,565 sales respectively, both at 8.1% share…
The Chevrolet Celta holds onto its 3rd place at 3.8% share and the VW Fox confirms its return in shape, up 2 spots on July to 4th place with 3.7%, just above the Fiat Strada and Chevrolet Corsa Sedan. The VW Voyage is up to #8, the highest ranking the nameplate has reached since 1991 (it was discontinued between 1996 and 2008), with 8,960 sales and 2.9%.
The Renault Sandero stays extremely solid in 9th place at 8,693 units and 2.8%, the Fiat Punto holds itself within the Top 20 at #20 and 1.2% and the Chery QQ continues to improve, up 10 spots on July to a best-ever #39 with 1,893 sales and 0.6%.
Notice the Ford New Fiesta at #52, the Renault Megane GT up 19 spots to #65, the Peugeot 408 up 8 spots to #73, the Chevrolet Camaro at #131 and the Fiat 500 for the first time in the Top 150 at #143. JAC places the new J6 in 97th position with 493 sales and the J5 at #147 and 104 units for their first full months.
