Japan Kei cars June 2011: Suzuki Wagon R in the lead
Like the passenger car market, sales of Kei cars are slowly back to normal, down ‘only’ 18% in June at 126,804 units compared to -25% in May and -45% in April.
For the 4th month in a row, the Suzuki Wagon R is the best-selling Kei car in Japan with 14,928 sales, only down 4% year-on-year. It still hasn’t managed to pass the Daihatsu Move in the year-to-date ranking however, #2 at 76,796 sales vs. 77,805 for the Daihatsu, #2 at 13,720 units (+21%) this month.
Other good performers this month include the Daihatsu Mira, up 2 spots to #4, the Suzuki Palette, also up 2 ranks to #6 and the Suzuki Jimny, up 10 spots to a more familiar 14th place.
