Russia April 2011: Lada Kalina #1, Hyundai Solaris best foreigner
The Russian car market continues on its cash-for-clunkers-boosted run, up 42% in April at 235,711 registrations and 64% over the first 4 months of the year at 754,081 units. For the third time in the last 6 months, the Lada Kalina takes the lead of Russian sales with 15,157 units and 6.4% share. It is however still #2 in 2011 with 46,329 sales and 6.1%, up 109%.
The Lada Priora is up one spot at #2 with 13,373 sales and 5.7%, it is #3 in 2011 at 41,565 units, up only 18%. The Lada 2104-2017 drops 2 places to #3 at 12,458 units, but it keeps the 2011 lead with 47,490 sales and 6.3%, up a massive 110% on 2010.
The best performance this month is again delivered by the new Hyundai Solaris, flamboyantly taking the lead of ‘foreign’ models – even though it is produced locally. Its 9,296 sales are in all likeliness a new monthly volume record for any Hyundai model in Russia and put it in 5th place, just below the Lada Samara at 9,789 units.
