Germany October 2010: C Class now #4 YTD, BMW 5 Series #9
The German market is still in decline in October with 256,775 registrations and -20% vs. Oct 09, which is actually a little bit better than the year-to-date situation at -27% (2,423,627 sales).
Well behind the VW Golf (8.2%), the Polo regains its #2 spot (3.2%) but the Mercedes C Class continues to be very strong and even betters its (already brilliant) September market share at 3.1%. This allows it to jump from #7 to #4 in the year-to-date ranking.
In extremely good shape again this month, Mercedes places 3 models in the Top 8 with the E Class in 5th (both in October and YTD) and the A Class in 8th. In comparison, the best-selling BMW is “only” 9th but it is the 5 Series which is actually a great performance for the model, at 2.2% market share.
The new gen can’t come soon enough for the Passat, only 11th this month and dropping 2 spots in the YTD rankings in 6th. Strong performers in October also include the VW Tiguan in #14, the BMW X1 in #22, the Dacia Duster in #41 and the Audi A1 in #44.
