Czech Republic 10 months 2010: 4 Skodas on top!
The Czech car market is handling ok in 2010, with +7% vs.09 over 10 months at 138,979 registrations, but -7% in October at 13,126.
Skoda is extremely strong at home with 4 models in the first 4 spots! The Octavia leads at a massive 15.3% market share, ahead of the Fabia at 9.4%, the Superb at 2.6% and the Yeti at 2.5%.
It is actually the very first year that Skoda has so many models on top of the Czech ranking, for the simple reason that for a long time the Skoda range only included 2 big sellers (Fabia & Octavia), the Superb not playing a significant role until the current generation, and the Yeti only reaching its full potential now. The 5th Skoda, the Roomster, is 13th with just under 2,000 sales and 1.4%.
No foreign model delivers market shares above 2.5% over 10 months: the Kia Ceed, built in neighbouring Slovakia, is equal-4th, followed by the Hyundai i30 which, thanks to an enormous October month (805 sales, 6.1%!), climbs to 6th at 2.5%. The VW Golf is 7th at 2.3%. Notice the Ford Fusion in 9th which, although it used to be ranked much higher, is a Czech specialty: no other country in the worlds ranks the Fusion that high.
October highlights also include the 13th position of the Kia Venga (build here) at 152 sales and 1.2% and the 19th place of the Kia Sportage, #2 4WD behind the Skoda Yeti.
