Latvia 2006-2008: Skoda Octavia reigns

The Latvian car market is extremely strong in 2006 at 25,626 registrations and 2007 at 32,497 units but plunges in 2008. The Skoda Octavia is the best-selling model in the country all through the period, selling 1,085 units in 2006 for a 4.2% market share, 1,420 units in 2007 (4.4%) and 703 in 2008. The Hyundai Getz misses the pole position for only 20 units in 2006, #2 with 1,065 sales followed by the Toyota Corolla at 1,038 units, the Ford Focus and Opel Astra.

Honda CR-V

In 2007 the Honda CR-V gains 103% thanks to the new generation and takes the 2nd spot with 960 sales and 3% share, ahead of the Honda Civic, up 167% to 837 units, the Skoda Fabia and Toyota RAV4 at 2.3%. In 2008 it’s the turn of the Mazda6 to hold the #2 spot with 676 sales, with the Skoda Fabia #3 followed by the VW Golf and Toyota Land Cruiser.
