Turkey 2005-2006: Renault places Megane and Clio Symbol on top of PC charts
The Turkish new light vehicle market is up 2.3% year-on-year in 2005 to 714,809 units, a new all-time high annual volume. Ford (+11.6%) overtakes Renault (-4.4%) to snap the brands top spot with 16.9% share vs. 15.1% for Renault. Fiat (+4.2%) remains #3 but Hyundai (+10.5%) is catching up at a record 10% share. VW (+6.8%) rounds out the Top 5 ahead of Opel (-21.8%) and Peugeot (-16.4%) both underperforming. Kia (+54.8%) slides into the Top 10 at #10.
Model-wise, the Ford Transit (+11.2%) and Fiat Doblo (+23.5%) take charge with the Renault Clio (-10.3%) holding the top spot among passenger cars, sales including the Symbol sedan variant. The Ford Transit Connect (+22.2%) ranks 4th ahead of the Renault Megane (-30.2%). The Hyundai Accent (+19.3%), Ford Focus (-12.9%), Toyota Corolla (+11.8%) and Ford Fiesta (+20.1%) follow in the passenger cars order.
In 2006, sales reverse -14.9% to 608,287. Ford (-14%) stays on top of the brands charts ahead of Renault (-22.6%) and Fiat (-6.1%). VW (-5.3%) overtakes Hyundai (-26%) to land at #4 with 10% share. Opel (-29.1%), Peugeot (-26.5%) and Toyota (-17.7%) all struggle but camp on their 2005 positions. Kia (+8.9%) advances to #9 just as Citroen (-0.3%) cracks the Top 10 at #10. Dacia (+17.7%) is up to #12 with 1.7% share.
The Fiat Doblo (-11.7%) tops the 2006 models charts above the Ford Transit (-18%) and Transit Connect (-13.6%). The Renault Clio (-24.9%) is the best-selling passenger car in the country but these sales include the Symbol sedan variant. In fact it’s the Renault Megane (-33.4%) that tops the PC charts as can be seen in intermediary 5 months 2006 rankings obtained locally. The Ford Focus (-12.6%), Hyundai Accent (-26.2%), Fiat Albea (-10.6%) and Ford Fiesta (-15%) follow.
