Argentina 2001-2002: Renault Clio on top
* See ‘Read more’ for the Top 10 best-selling models! Many thanks to Bruno for the data *
The Argentinean car market is struggling over the period, with the top seller well under 15,000 units for the first time in over 15 years… The Renault Clio surprisingly takes the lead in 2001, jumping up from the 5th place in 2000. It sells 12,380 units, a drop of only 9% vs. 2000 when most cars in the Top 10 falls by over 40%. The Renault Clio keeps the lead in 2002 but I don’t have any year-end sales figures.
The Peugeot 206 ranks 2nd in 2001 with 10,147 sales, followed by the Chevrolet Corsa (-53%), VW Gol (-64%) and Renault Megane (-50%). This Top 5 should stay identical in the 2002 ranking. Notice the Ford Focus making its first appearance in the Argentinean Top 10 in 2001 at #8.
