Car sales are down 3% in Germany this year at 3,252,898 units. No surprises on top: the VW Golf leads the way again but with 255,430 sales it delivers its lowest figure in…20 years (!) and its 224,887 score from 1983…
After the Mercedes C Class last year (it is now #3 at 125,206 units), the 2nd place is once again not occupied by any Opel model but instead it is now the property of the BMW 3 Series, for the first time at this level in Germany. With 148,086 sales and 4.6%, it reaches its highest year-end market share so far. It even peaked at 5.5% in May with 15,624 sales, and was #2 for 10 months out of 12 this year.
The Audi A4 is up one spot to #4 with 120,320 sales, relegating the Opel Astra to 5th place, just above the VW Passat and Polo, up 3 spots to #7. The Peugeot 206 is the best-selling foreign model and the only one in the Top 20 at #14 with 55,177 sales, spending one month (February) in the Top 10. The Skoda Fabia is up 3 spots to #21, 2nd import above the Renault Clio, Twingo and Scenic.
