Australia 2001: Commodore, Falcon and Toyota Corolla on podium

The Australian car market is down 1% year-on-year in 2001 to 772,681. Once again the Holden Commodore widens the gap with the Ford Falcon: it is up 2% to 85,411 sales and 11.1% while the Ford is down 11% to 53,534 units and 6.9%, its lowest volume since 1991… The Toyota Corolla is up one more spot to land on the podium at #3 for the first time since official models data is published in Australia. It sells 30,813 units for a 4% market share, up just 2% on 2000 and is now followed by the Holden Astra, up a shiny 6 ranks and 54% to #4 with 28,450 sales and 3.7%.
The Toyota Camry/Vienta is down 20% to #5, ahead of the Mitsubishi Magna/Verada (-7%) and Hyundai Accent/Excel (-29%). The Ford Ute is up 24% to a best-ever #11, the Ford Laser is back up 36% to #12, its highest ranking since 1995, the Toyota Avalon is up 34% to #15, the Holden Ute up 76% to #16, the Toyota RAV4 up 30% to #17 and the Mazda Tribute lands directly at #30.
