Poland Full Year 2022: Toyota Corolla, Yaris and Kia Sportage lead in market off -6.3%

The Toyota Corolla is the most popular vehicle in Poland in 2022.

410,539 new cars hit Polish roads in 2022, that’s 6.3% less than in 2021. Toyota (-0.8%) improves its share by one percentage point from 16.7% to 17.7%, easily dominating the brands charts above Skoda (-6.7%) at 10.2% of the market. Kia (+4.3%) actually increases its volume year-on-year but stays in third place at 8.2% share vs. 7.4% last year. Volkswagen (-5.5%) stays at 7.1% share above Hyundai (+0.2%), BMW (-0.7%) and Dacia (+4.1%) all outperforming the market and ensuring the Top 7 brands are unchanged on 2021. Mercedes (+5.1%) overtakes Audi (+1.8%) with both carmakers posing year-on-year gains. Ford (-10.6%) closes the Top 10 like last year. Below, Volvo (-0.6%) resists but Opel (-36.3%), Renault (-25.1%) and Peugeot (-7.3%) all lose share. Mazda cracks the Top 15 at #15.

Over in the models charts, the Toyota Corolla (-3.3%) wins for the second consecutive year and widens the gap with the #2, the Toyota Yaris (-13.9%) to almost 9,000 sales. The Kia Sportage (+45.9%) surges 7 spots on last year to #3 thanks to the new generation while the Dacia Duster (-13.7%) stays at #4. The Skoda Octavia (-17%), which was still #1 in 2020, is down two ranks to #5. The Toyota RAV4 (-3.8%) slips to #6 ahead of the Hyundai Tucson (-4.1%) and i30 (+17.3%). The Toyota Yaris Cross lands at #9 and peaked at #2 in November, it could rank inside the Top 5 in 2023. The C-HR (-17%) makes it a rock solid five Toyotas in the Top 10. Another Toyota nameplate that could find its way to the top of the charts in 2023 is the Corolla Cross, up to #17 in December. Strong gainers below include the Dacia Sandero (+21.3%) at #14 (+6), the Skoda Kamiq (+17.4%) at #15 (+6), the Volvo XC60 (+27.5%) at #17 (+6) and the Skoda Kodiaq (+33%) at #20 (+18). The Toyota Aygo X (#37) is the only 2021 launch in the Top 50.
