Kazakhstan Full Year 2022: Chevrolet Cobalt and Hyundai Tucson top market up 5.3%

The Chevrolet Cobalt is the most popular vehicle in Kazakhstan for the 2nd year running.

New vehicle sales in Kazakhstan lodge a 6th consecutive year-on-year gain in 2022 at +5.3% to 123,779 units. Local assembler Chevrolet (+17.8%) improves from 24.8% to 27.7% share to remain the best-seller ahead of Hyundai (+28.4%) up to 23.6% share vs. 19.3% last year and Kia (+48.6%) advancing one spot to #3 with 11.7% of the market vs. 8.3% a year ago. Toyota (-30.5%) freefalls to #4 and loses four percentage points of share to just 7.8%. Lada (-21.1%) is also in great difficulty at #5. The event of the year is the arrival of Chery through its namesake brand (#6) and Exeed (#10), instant blockbusters in the market. Haval (+24.5%) also shines at #11.

Model-wise, the Chevrolet Cobalt (+58.7%) tightens its grip on the market and improves to 18.7% share vs. 12.4% a year ago. The Hyundai Tucson (+272.7%) almost multiplies its year-ago volume by four and surges 10 spots to land at #2 thanks to the new generation. The Chevrolet Nexia (-33.9%) sinks and is bumped to third place. The Hyundai Elantra (+56.9%) and Sonata (+113.7%) both impress to round out the Top 5 above the Toyota Prado (+55.1%) and Kia Sportage (+58.7%) also in outstanding shape. The Hyundai Santa Fe (+47.4%) and Lada Granta (+28.5%) also score great results in the remainder of the Top 10. The Chery Tiggo 7Pro (+5859%) and Tiggo 8 (+8570%) end their first full year of sales at #11 and #17 respectively.
