Indonesia Full Year 2022: Honda Brio reclaims top spot in first millionaire market since 2019

Wholesales of vehicles in Indonesia climb 18.1% year-on-year in 2022 to 1,048,040 units. This is the first millionaire year since 2019 and highest annual score since 2018. Retail sales are up 17.4% to 1,013,582. In the wholesales brands ranking, Toyota (+12.1%) trails the market and sees its share thaw from 33.3% to 31.6%. In contrast Daihatsu (+22.9%) and Honda (+44.1%) sport fantastic gains and the latter jumps up two spots to #5, leapfrogging past Mitsubishi (-7.9%) and Suzuki (-1.5%). Fuso (+2.9%) is timid above Isuzu (+37.6%) just as Hyundai (+910.3%) surges six ranks to #8 thanks to a new lineup. Hino (+49.2%) also outpaces the market while Wuling (+17.3%) drops two spots to #10 despite almost matching the market. In the retail charts, Toyota (+13.4%) dominates ahead of Daihatsu (+24.9%) and Honda (+37.2%) with Hyundai (+878.2%) up to #8.
Over in the models ranking, the Honda Brio (+32%) surges five ranks to reclaim the annual pole position it held back in 2020, toppling the Toyota Avanza (-6.8%) in the YTD order in November. The Suzuki Carry Pikap (+6.1%) is up one spot to land on the third step of the podium, while the Daihatsu Sigra (+38.6%) lifts four ranks to #4 and led the overall charts in June and December. The Daihatsu Gran Max Pikap (+24.4%) is also in great shape at #5 vs. #7 in 2021. In contrast the Mitsubishi Xpander (-12.5%) and Toyota Kijang Innova (-5.6%) can’t surf on the positive market. The Toyota Calya (+20.9%), the Sigra twin, and Toyota Veloz (+741.4%) round out the Top 10 in spectacular fashion. The Hyundai Creta (#23) is the best-selling 2022 launch, distancing the Hyundai Stargazer (#27) and Wuling Air (#31).
