Croatia Full Year 2022: Skoda Octavia reclaims lead, sales off -2.6%

The Skoda Octavia is the best-selling car in Croatia in 2022.

The Croatian new car market is down -2.6% year-on-year in 2022 to 44,088 sales. Volkswagen (-8.6%) remains the most popular carmaker in the country despite falling significantly faster than the market. Skoda (-1.4%) improves its share to 10.2% and stays in 2nd place while Kia (+5.8%) overtakes Opel (-8.6%) to end the year on the third step of the podium. Dacia (+6.9%) also defies the negative market with a year-on-year gain but the best performer in the Top 10 is Toyota (+45.4%) up four spots on last year to #6. The remainder of the Top 10 endure double-digit falls, with Suzuki (-27.3%) and Peugeot (-25.1%) the hardest hit. Just outside the Top 10, Ford (+134%) surges eight ranks to #11, with Cupra (+154%), Volvo (+34.6%) and Porsche (+30%) also impressive. Newcomer MG (+3833%) finishes its first full year in market at #28.

Over in the models ranking, the Skoda Octavia (+5.5%) reclaim the lead it held back in 2020 with a dominant 4.4% share. It is the 7th time the Octavia is the Croatian best-seller after 2011, 2014 and 2017 to 2020. #1 last year, the Opel Corsa (-61.4%) implodes to #16 in 2022. The Dacia Duster (-9.3%) edges up one spot on 2021 to #2 while the Opel Crossland (+43.3%) is up eight to #3. The Dacia Sandero (-1.8%) is also up one rank to #4 ahead of the Kia Stonic (+5.2%) up five to #5. New for 2022, the VW Taigo lands directly in 6th place and topped the charts outright in November. The Toyota Yaris (+64.6%) also shines at #8 just as the Opel Mokka (+294.8%), Suzuki S-Cross (+82.3%), Renault Captur (+72.1%), Toyota Corolla (+35.6%) and Kia Xceed (+24.6%) all break into the Top 20.
