Slovakia October 2022: Podium 100% Skoda, market surges 30.5%

The Skoda Fabia is the best-selling vehicle in Slovakia in October.

New car sales in Slovakia shoot up 30.5% year-on-year in October to 7,528 units, tilting the year-to-date tally into positive territory at +1.8% to 65,634 sales. Skoda (+98.3%) almost doubles its sales year-on-year partly due to a particularly low year-ago volume and reaches 22.8% share vs. 17.4% so far this year. Kia (+5.8%) is more discreet and gains one spot on last month to #2 while Volkswagen (+125.6%) surges ahead at #3. Hyundai (-2.5%) goes against the euphoric market with a year-on-year loss to 8.8% share vs. 11.9% YTD. #2 last month, Toyota (+25%) is down three ranks to #5 in October. Peugeot (+51.5%) and Dacia (+32.5%) also beat the market in the remainder of the Top 10 with Mercedes (+21.2%) and Opel (+18.4%) up but Citroen (-19.3%) down. Below, Lexus (+346.7%), Audi (+80%) and Suzuki (+61.6%) stand out.

Over in the models charts, the Skoda Fabia (+50.2%) is the overall best-seller for the first time this year with a strong 5.9% share, climbing to #2 year-to-date as a result. Almost 700 sales separate it from the YTD leader, the Hyundai i30 (-13.2%), down to #7 this month. The Skoda Octavia (+109.9%) is down one spot on September to #2 but scores a tremendous year-on-year uptick as does the Kamiq (+127.8%) making the podium 100% Skoda. The Kia Sportage (+48.6%) is also in excellent shape in 4th place, distancing the Kia Ceed (-15.3%) and Hyundai Tucson (-6%) both in difficulty. The Skoda Scala (+158%), Dacia Duster (+142.9%) and Skoda Karoq (+73%) round out the Top 10 in fantastic manner.
