Slovenia October 2022: Skoda Octavia takes control of market off a steep -18.7%

The Skoda Octavia is now #1 year-to-date in Slovenia.

3,433 new cars found a buyer in Slovenia in October, another harsh -18.7% year-on-year drop. The year-to-date tally now stands at 40,191 units, down -15.1% on the same period in 2021. Volkswagen (+21.4%) goes against the market to score a double-digit gain but its market share remains below its YTD level at 14.6% vs. 15.6%. Skoda (+102.7%) does even better year-on-year, compensating for a low year-ago basis and reaching 13% share vs. 10% so far this year. Seat (+78.1%), Audi (+33.3%), Citroen (+23.6%) and Toyota (+8.5%) also defy the market in the remainder of the Top 10. On the other hand, Renault (-80.1%) completely implode and Hyundai (-26.7%) and Kia (-26%) suffer. Below, Cupra (+366.7%) and Jeep (+310%) stand out.

Over in the models ranking, the Skoda Octavia (+101.1%) more than doubles its volume year-on-year to sell more than doubles any other nameplate in the market. It takes control of the year-to-date charts as well despite a -21.4% year-on-year loss, toppling the Renault Clio (-94.5%) in complete perdition this month at #42 and down -51.5% YTD. The Kia Sportage (-9.7%) climbs nine spots on September to land at #2 while the Renault Captur (-58.7%), struggling mightily, is down one to #3. The VW T-Cross (-25.9%) is also way down year-on-year but the VW Tiguan (+425%) is up 5-fold YoY to round out the Top 5. The Fiat 500 (+850%), Skoda Kodiaq (+155.2%) and Peugeot 208 (+92.1%) also post fantastic gains among the Top 10 selling models.
