Netherlands October 2022: Toyota (+90.9%) scores first win in 13 years, Opel Corsa #1 in market up 20.4%

The Toyota Yaris Cross (#4) helps lift the brand to #1 in the Netherlands.

The Dutch new car market gains a sizeable +20.4% year-on-year in October to 28,992 units, meaning the year-to-date volume is now down -2.3% to 253,764. As it is the case in Spain, Italy and France, Toyota (+90.3%) has a phenomenal month and ranks #1 for what is for the first time since 2009. It holds 10.2% share vs. 7.8% year-to-date. Kia (+15.8%) is toppled to #2 and Volkswagen (+8.7%) is also down one spot on last month to #3. Renault (+29.6%) is up one rank on last month to #4 while Opel (+11.6%) is up 8 to #5 and Hyundai (+12.9%) stays at #6.  BMW (+47.5%) and Volvo (+34.1%) also shine in the remainder of the Top 10.

In the models aisle, the Opel Corsa (+42.9%) surges up 14 spots on September to snap the monthly lead with 3.1% share vs. 2.2% and #4 year-to-date. In fact the entire Top 8 outrace the market this month. The Kia Picanto is up 52.3% to #2 ahead of the Volvo XC40 (+63.7%), Toyota Yaris Cross (+242.5%), the new Toyota Aygo X, the Peugeot 208 (+53%) remaining at #1 YTD, the Lynk & Co 01 (+22.3%) and the Renault Clio (+51.6%). #2 so far this year, the Kia Niro (-36.3%) is in freefall at #9. Notice also the Ford Fiesta (+998.1%), Ford Puma (+448.7%) and Fiat 500 (+123.5%) making waves.
