Saudi Arabia June 2022: Changan up to #3, Geely Emgrand already inside Top 10 in stable market (-0.5%)

The new gen Geely Emgrand is an instant blockbuster in Saudi Arabia.

The Saudi new vehicle market is almost immobile year-on-year in June at -0.5% to 51,309 registrations. Toyota edges up 1.3% to 31.7% share whereas Hyundai (-23.4%) is down significantly but stays in 2nd place. Changan (+21.4%) breaks into the podium for the first time while Chevrolet (+50.5%) and Isuzu (+43%) post even bigger year-on-year gains. Geely (+112.9%) breaks into the Top 10 at #9 with Kia (+12.5%) also outpacing the market but Nissan (-18.6%), Mazda (-26.7%) and Ford (-26.9%) struggle. Below, Suzuki (+241.4%), Land Rover (+86.9%), Honda (+85.1%), Genesis (+52.9%) and GMC (+41.7%) stand out.

Model-wise, the Toyota Camry (-17.1%) holds onto the top spot despite a harsh fall, it is followed this month by the Toyota Hilux (+2.1%). The Isuzu TF aka D-Max (+62%) climbs five spots on its Full Year 2021 ranking to land on the third step of the podium. The Hyundai Elantra (-20.2%) is in difficulty and falls to #4 whereas the Chevrolet Captiva (+58.9%) and Toyota Fortuner (+86%) slip inside the Top 10 at #5 and #6 respectively. Below the Toyota Yaris (-43.8%) in freefall, the Toyota Land Cruiser (+87.6%) rallies back up 12 ranks on its FY2021 position to #8. But the best performance in the Top 10 is below: launched only two months ago, the 2023 Geely Emgrand lands directly inside the Saudi Top 10 at #9. Below, notice the Hyundai Creta (+120.8%), Suzuki Swift Dzire (+480.1%) and Honda Accord (+148.6%) setting the charts on fire.
