Czech Republic July 2022: Dacia (+46.2%), Duster (+12.2%), Sandero (+24.9%) defy market diving -26.9%

The Dacia Duster is up to #5 in the Czech Republic in July.

New car sales in the Czech Republic dive -26.9% year-on-year in July to just 13,448 units, leading to a year-to-date tally off -14.4% to 112,364. Local best-seller Skoda (-39.3%) falls much faster than its home market to 29.9% share compared to 31.8% so far this year. Hyundai (-21.4%) and Volkswagen (-12.4%) complete the podium and both gain share year-on-year. In 4th place like last month, Dacia (+46.2%) excels once again and improve its share from 7% last month and 5% YTD to a record 8.4%. Affordable prices, low electronics content and the availability of LPG versions have all combined to a dream run by Dacia across Europe over the last couple of months. Ford (+11.3%) is the only additional gainer in the Top 10 while Toyota (-11.3%) and Mercedes (-21.1%) contain their fall below the market rate. Below, Cupra (+482.9%), DS (+200%), Porsche (+54.5%), Lexus (+29.4%), Ssangyong (+18%), Land Rover (+15.6%) and Fiat (+11%) stand out with significant year-on-year upticks.

Over in the models ranking, the Skoda Octavia (-26.8%) leads and matches the market evolution, reclaiming the YTD top spot off the Skoda Fabia (-55.7%), down to #2 for the month. The Hyundai i30 (-26.7%) remains in third place above the Skoda Karoq (-15.3%) resisting ok. The Dacia Duster (+12.2%) at #5 (its best ranking since June 2019) and Sandero (+24.9%) at #10 are the only year-on-year gainers in the Top 10 whereas the Skoda Kamiq (-63.7%), Scala (-49.6%) and Kodiaq (-38.1%) struggle. The Hyundai Tucson (-22.7%) gain limited share year-on-year. Below, the Cupra Formentor (+482.1%), Skoda Enyaq (+387.5%), Ford Kuga (+108.3%), VW Tiguan (+62.3%) and Hyundai Bayon (+47.1%) impress.
