Argentina July 2022: Peugeot 208 threatens Fiat Cronos for #1, market up a shining 16.8%

Peugeot 208 sales are up 104.8% year-on-year in July.

38,561 new vehicles hit Argentinean roads in July, a strong 16.8% year-on-year lift that brings the year-to-date tally up 2% to 248,532 units. Toyota (+37%) more than doubles the market growth to cement its pole position with 20.8% share vs. 19.8% so far this year. Below, Volkswagen (+11%) and Fiat (+3.9%) can’t keep up with the market growth but camp on their June positions at #2 and #3 respectively. Renault (+28.8%), Peugeot (+55.6%) and Chevrolet (+66.1%) also impress while in the remainder of the Top 10 Citroen (+19.6%) is the only additional brand beating the market.

Over in the models ranking, the Fiat Cronos (-22.2%) vastly underperforms and falls to 7% share vs. 10% year-to-date. Only 283 sales below is the Peugeot 208 (+104.8%) more than doubling its sales year-on-year and up 6 ranks on last month thanks to the new generation. The Toyota Hilux (+9.2%) drops one spot on June to #3, distancing the VW Amarok (+62.6%), Chevrolet Cruze (+151.6%) and Toyota Yaris (+46.1%) all in outstanding shape. The Toyota Corolla (+218.1%), Renault Sandero (+110%) and Toyota Corolla Cross (+96.1%) close out the Top 10 in euphoric fashion. The Fiat Pulse (#19) remains the most popular recent launch ahead of the Ford Maverick (#25).
