Netherlands June 2022: Peugeot (+50.4%) leads, places 208, 2008 and 308 in Top 10, sales off -9.9%

The Peugeot 308 is inside the Dutch Top 10 for the 2nd month in a row.

The Dutch new car market is down -9.9% year-on-year in June to 30,012 sales, leading to a year-to-date volume off -5.8% to 153,708. Peugeot (+50.4%) goes completely against the market to spectacularly take the lead of the brands charts with 10.8% share vs. 7.9% over H1. It distances last month’s leader and the YTD leader Kia (-20.8%) in difficulty. Below Toyota (-3.6%), Opel (+35.1%) also manages an outstanding month at #4 vs. #11 over H1 2022. Marketing execs at Hyundai (+51.7%), Citroen (+40.9%) and Mercedes (+31.4%) also have a smile on their face. In contrast Volkswagen (-37.4%) and Renault (-30.5%) vastly underperform. Below, Dacia (+78.4%), Cupra (+2441.7%), Polestar (+228.4%) and Lynk & Co (+323.1%) stand out.

Model-wise, the Peugeot 208 (+161.4%) and its twin the Opel Corsa (+120.9%) are the only nameplates selling more than 1,000 units this month. The 208 cements its YTD lead as its direct follower the Kia Niro  (-55.9%) plunges to #11 this month. The Opel Corsa for its part ranks #6 year-to-date. The 2008 (+73.9%) makes it two Peugeots on the podium whereas the VW Polo (-23.2%) suffers despite its facelift. The new Toyota Aygo X is up five spots to a record 5th place while the Citroen C4 (+197%) cracks the Top 10 for the first time for this generation at #6. The Toyota Yaris Cross is up 8 ranks on May to #9 with the Peugeot 308 (+330.8%), Renault Arkana (+1025%), Hyundai Tucson (+42.5%) and Kia Sportage (+760%) all soaring just below.
