Over in the brands ranking, the entire podium goes against the market trend and post solid year-on-year gains. Toyota is up 7% to 22.6% share, matching its YTD level. Kia (+7.5%) remains at a record #2 for the 2nd month running, breaks its share record also for the 2nd consecutive month at 8.5% and smashes its volume record at 8,480, eclipsing its previous best of 7,890 in June 2021. Kia has now outsold sister brand Hyundai in Australia for 5 of the past 6 months. Speaking of which, Hyundai (+12.3%) scores the largest gain in the Top 8 to hit its best market share since November 2021 at 8.3% and highest volume since the 10,001 it reached back in June 2019. Mazda (-48.9%) follows in fourth place, suffering badly from stock shortages. Mitsubishi (+3.6%) manages a gain at #5 while Ford (-41.2%) struggles in 6th place. MG (+2.3%) marks 8 consecutive months at a record 7th place, distancing Mercedes (+10.4%) and Subaru (+18.3%) both in great shape. GWM Haval (+17.6%) is up two spots on May to a best-ever #13 also hit in July and August 2021, holding 2.4% of the market also hit in July and November 2021 and breaks its volume record at 2,440, eclipsing its previous best of 2,075 reached in June 2021.

Model-wise, the Toyota Hilux (+40.1%) smashes its volume record at 7,582 (previous best 6,537 in June 2020) as well as its share record at 7.6% (previous best 6.2% last March) This is also the highest market share hit by any model in Australia in 17 years, since the Holden Commodore reached 8% of the market back in May 2005. Strikingly, the Hilux outsells the next 3 best-selling pickups combined. The Hilux also dominates the lucrative 4×4 pickup race with 5,355 units vs. just 2,547 for the Ranger. Far below in 2nd place we have a surprise: the Hyundai Tucson (+89.8%) is up 10 spots on May to a new record ranking (previous best #4 in June 2017 and August 2017), it also equals its share record at 2.8% (also hit in June 2017) and posts its highest monthly volume since June 2017 when it reached 3,741 units. The Ford Ranger (-53.7%) is eagerly waiting for the new generation to arrive, while the Toyota Corolla (+19.8%) scores a surprisingly strong year-on-year uptick to stay at #4. The Toyota RAV4 (+3.4%) is relegated to #5.
